From the Mereenie Loop to daily towing and remote work, Central Australian conditions demand more than a standard manufacturer logbook.

If you drive in dust, tow heavy loads, or regularly operate offroad, your vehicle is under Severe Service conditions. Ignoring this leads to rapid fluid breakdown, clogged filters, accelerated wear, and unexpected failures.

SMART Offroad Severe Service Logbook

Engine Oil and Filter
Standard highway interval: 10,000 to 15,000 km
SMART offroad severe duty interval: 5,000 to 7,500 km or 6 months
Why we change it sooner: Extreme heat, dust ingress, and constant load break oil down far faster than highway driving.

Air Filter Inspection
Standard highway interval: Varies, often around 20,000 km
SMART offroad severe duty interval: Inspect every 2,500 km and replace when dirty
Why we change it sooner: A non negotiable defence against fine red dust that causes rapid engine wear.

Transmission and Differential Fluids
Standard highway interval: 40,000 to 60,000 km
SMART offroad severe duty interval: 20,000 km
Why we change it sooner: Increased stress from towing, corrugations, and high torque offroad articulation.

Suspension and Steering Greasing
Standard highway interval: 10,000 km
SMART offroad severe duty interval: 5,000 km
Why we change it sooner: Prevents premature wear on components repeatedly hammered by corrugations.
