DJ Says: I Can Clean DPFs for Other Workshops Too

Most of the content I put out is aimed at vehicle owners. This one's different. This is for the other workshops in Alice Springs — and fleet managers who want a reliable answer to their DPF problems.

I offer DPF cleaning as a trade service. If you're a mechanic and your customer needs a DPF clean, you can send the filter to me. I'll test it, clean it, verify the result, and return it with a flow report — usually within 24–48 hours.

The equipment required for a proper DPF clean is a significant capital investment. You need an ultrasonic or pneumatic cleaning machine capable of handling heavy-duty diesel filters, plus the diagnostic equipment to flow-test the filter before and after and confirm the result. Not every workshop can justify that cost, especially if DPF jobs are a minority of the work coming through the door.

So what usually happens? The customer gets told their DPF needs replacing — which costs substantially more — or the filter gets a basic clean that doesn't fully restore flow, and the problem comes back in a few months.

1. Receive the filter — you pull it and drop it off at 6 Brown Street
2. Pre-clean flow test — I measure restriction before cleaning and document the baseline
3. Full clean cycle — removes soot, ash, and accumulated contamination through the filter
4. Post-clean flow test — confirms restoration of flow to spec
5. Written report — you get a before/after flow test report to show your customer

The report matters. It's not "we cleaned it, should be fine." It's documented, measurable data that shows the work was done properly and the filter has been restored.

You pull the filter. You send it to me. I do the work and return it with a report. You reinstall it and invoice your customer.

The job gets done right, your customer gets a proper result, and you don't need to invest in equipment you might use once a fortnight. I'm not trying to take your customer — I'm helping you service them better.
